Surroundings

From Maderas down to Playa Remanso, Playa Hermosa, Tamarindo, El Yankee and even Playa Escameca, offering you cheap surf lessons with our local surf instructors. For those who would like to experience the famous breaks in the north such as Playa Manzanillo, Colorado, Panga Drops and Santana, we offer daily boat trips leaving from our home beach.

Could not have expected a better surf experience than the one at Rapture! The camp was in the jungle with amazing views of the ocean. The staff were first class. The fellow guests were great people. And, surf instruction was wonderful. I could not imagine a better surf camp experience.

Best surf camp I've been so far - great location (it's an adventurous drive to get there though), amazing views, best staff - besides being friendly and helpful they are fun as well :) You drive to a different spot almost everyday. Waves were good (end of May) when I was there, even though I heard that May is not the best month.

  • Cordobas, foreign currencies and credit cards

The local currency is the Nicaraguan Cordoba but US dollars are also accepted. The exchange rate varies from day to day. There are a lot of ATM’s around San Juan del Sur and any major city in the area, from most it’s possible to withdraw both Cordobas and US dollars. There are no ATMs in Playa Maderas.

  • Bringing your own surfboard

You are allowed to bring 3 surfboards into Nicaragua for personal use. Additional boards will be considered as imports and customs will charge a fee – usually $100 US per board, but this is negotiable. In Nicaragua no wetsuit is required as the water temperature is warm all year round. You can bring your own surfboard or we can provide an appropriately sized board from the surfcamp. We cater to all standards of surfer from beginner to advanced.

  • Nicaragua Visas

Visitors from most countries can get a 90-day tourist visa on arrival in Nicaragua. At entry, you might be asked to show an onward or return ticket and pay a tourist tax of $10 US at the airport. Check your exact requirements before you travel.
